Mayor Marty Walsh has restructured the way that the City of Boston is organized. Mayor Walsh has created new departments/positions and consolidated others, along with new appointments, he has changed the status of some departments either removing or adding the departments to “cabinet level” positions. The organization chart graphic is a good start for citizens who want to see how the city’s power structure is organized.

I wonder what independent agency means as far as accountability to the people whose taxes pay for their office space in city hall. Is BRA and the BHA accountable to us as “citizens?” Why arent they departments instead of independent agencies?
