One man died and another suffered life-threatening injuries in two separate weekend shootings in Boston.
Police responded to East Cottage and Sumner streets in Dorchester about 9:30 last night and found a male in his early to mid-20s shot with serious injuries, according to officer Eddy Chrispin, a Boston police spokesman.
Rich Adams, a security guard at the Tedeschi’s near the scene, said he heard three distinct pops, then a large group of people began gathering.
“It’s the summertime,” Adams said. “People are trigger happy and suicidal.”
A large area was taped off, as a crime-scene photographer snapped photos near a parked SUV.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old black male was shot to death in Roxbury on Saturday night.
Officers responded to the area of Dearborn and Eustis streets at about 11 p.m. The victim took himself to Boston Medical Center after suffering multiple gunshot wounds but died there a short time later.
Police have not publicly identified the man because his family has not yet been notified, Chrispin said.
Officers have no suspects and asked any witnesses to contact police. They did find at least one bullet near the scene, Chrispin said.
“It’s still an active investigation,” Chrispin said.
