Mass. trooper accused of assaulting girlfriend
QUINCY — A Massachusetts State Police trooper has been charged with assault and battery for allegedly attempting to strangle his girlfriend and pointing a gun at her during a fight in his Quincy home.
Brian Dunn was arrested Monday following the alleged assault at about 12:30 a.m. and held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Wednesday in Quincy District Court.
Quincy police say the woman the 49-year-old Dunn is accused of assaulting is a transit police officer.
The woman told police she’d dated Dunn for three to four months. She was treated at the scene.
Dunn’s lawyer tells The Patriot Ledger that he expects his client to be “fully exonerated.”
A state police spokesman says Dunn has been placed on administrative leave and could face additional discipline.
