Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
To establish a relationship and understanding of youth in areas where they spend time (street corners, parks, etc.). To build community relationships with residents, local merchants, courts, police, school, health centers and community organizations. To develop a network capable of linking youth and families with services and opportunities in the community. To advocate for youth and families with service providers, to include state and city institutions. To attend scheduled meetings, trainings and workshops. Maintain records, documentation and perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
One (1) year of experience working with high-risk youth and families in community based setting required. Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. BA in social work and/or counseling or training or experience in a related field may be used as a substitution for the above experience. Familiarity with the juvenile justice system and Boston youth service providers preferred. Willingness to work on the street and in other unstructured situations preferred. Good mediation and facilitation skills preferred. Good listening skills preferred.
Mass. Driver’s License preferred. Must be able to pass Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sexual Offender Record Information (SORI) checks.
