Combined Jewish Philanthropies, a progressive and innovative federation dedicated to building, strengthening and maintaining an open, welcoming and vibrant Jewish environment, has an opening for a Director of Youth Engagement (DYE) for its Commission on Jewish Life and Learning (COJLL).
The DYE will have oversight and responsibility for all aspects of CJP’s Jewish Overnight Camping Initiative, as well as new initiatives related to Youth Engagement. Overall responsibilities include developing goals and strategies, building and nurturing partnerships across agencies and organizations, overseeing allocations and grants, staffing volunteer committees, and working as part of the COJLL team to advance Jewish life and learning.
• The DYE will lead COJLL’s work to revitalize Youth Engagement across Greater Boston. This will involve acting as liaison to URJ, Hebrew College, Moving Traditions and other organizations, as well as serving as lead professional in developing and implementing new Youth Engagement initiatives across the community in partnership with our synagogue partners.
• This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing CJP’s Camping Initiative – One Happy Camper program, serving as liaison to Foundation for Jewish Camp, deepening the relationship between congregations and camps and significantly increasing participation in Jewish overnight camp. In addition, the DYE will work with the Development team on fundraising strategies for COJLL’s camping agenda.
Minimum Requirements:
Masters degree or equivalent preferred. At least 5 years of experience in engaging teens, Jewish overnight camp and working with synagogues and agencies. The ability to think strategically, develop trusting relationships with partners, and awareness of community organizing and social media as strategies to create excitement and reach many more participants; ability to work as part of a high-functioning team; experience of and passion for Jewish overnight camping; excellent communication skills, ability to inspire and build support for new strategies.
