By: Dan Ventura – High School Insider

Cathedral High School’s Duane Sigsbury has been named this week’s New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week in recognition of his team’s Division 4A Super Bowl victory over Madison Park, 22-20,  on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Panthers outlasted the Cardinals in double overtime in snowy conditions at Gillette Stadium en route to the school’s first Super Bowl championship.

The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to Cathedral’s football program in Sigsbury’s name in recognition of his Coach of the Week selection.

Patriots and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett, the team’s executive director of community affairs, visited Coach Cormier and his team on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Boston Cathedral High School. The visit and check presentation will be featured on the team’s weekly television magazine show, Patriots All Access, which airs at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, on WBZ-TV in Boston and will be available immediately after on Patriots.com.

“The Cathedral players and coaches have shown tremendous focus, determination and work ethic in making it to back-to-back Super Bowls,” Tippett said. “These traits paid off on Saturday as they battled the weather and a strong opponent on their way to a thrilling double-overtime victory. I enjoyed visiting with the Panthers as they continue to celebrate their milestone accomplishment.
