Job Description:

The Athletic Director is responsible for managing a small team of coaches who instruct our land sports (basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, football, soccer, street hockey, ultimate frisbee, volleyball). The Athletic Director should also be able to coach one or more of the above sports, and have enough working knowledge of these sports to be able to provide feedback to the other coaches/instructors in their teaching ability, organization of their groups and the progressions of their drills and games. The management and care of our athletic equipment and lining of the fields is also the responsibility of the Athletic Director.

This role involves the organization and management of our land sports through a 9 week summer program, from June 24th to August 23rd. Staff training throughout June is also required. Regular Camp hours are 9-4, Monday to Friday. The Athletic Director is expected to arrive early to prepare for the day and stay later to debrief the day with the Camp Directors and/or other supervisors, and can expect an 8am to 4:30pm day. Communicating between departments is a crucial part of the job.

Applicants can expect to be out on the courts or the sports field for the majority of their day, either coaching or overseeing the coaching of others.

– Housing is NOT included. Staff must live in the local area.

Job Requirements:

Essential:

An enthusiastic, motivated, warm, friendly, caring individual.
The ability to communicate, with patience and clarity, with children, co-workers and camp parents.
The ability to coach one or more of the following sports, and a working knowledge of as many as possible: basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, football, soccer, street hockey.
The ability to oversee, critique and approve a 9 week curriculum of age appropriate drills, games and progressions for the above sports for children aged 4-14.
Experience of working with children.
Great organizational skills.
22+

Preferred:

Experience of supervising staff.
Summer camp experience (either Day or Resident camp).
A background and education in childcare/education.
A teacher or someone training to be a teacher (or equivalent).
