Monday, April 8th, 2013
6:00 – 8:00 PM
@Dudley Library 65 Warren St. Roxbury (Dudley Sq.)
On October 21 of 2011 Occupy The Hood Boston became publicly known via our 1st community event which brought together over 700 people of different races, genders, ages and all walks of life.
Much has happened since the initial momentum of the “Occupy Movement”
Occupy The Hood Boston, made up of long time activists who seized the time of the “Occupy” fervor to continue to do the work they had already been doing, were skeptical from the beginning of the Occupy Mvmt’s overall lack of organization, leadership, grounding principles and the overwhelming presence of white supremacy, racism, sexism and elitism. In addition to those issues there were also problems we witnessed that plagued the camp like violence and drug abuse and an overall state of confusion and chaos.
In spite of the tenuous relationship between Occupy Boston and Occupy The Hood Boston, OTHB continued to organize and since 10/2011 have been able to pull off some major work; community forums, advocating for victims of Police Brutality, supporting responsible Political candidates and legislation, lectures, cultural events and our best work ever WE HAVE FED OVER 1,000 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITH A SMALL DEDICATED TEAM!!!
This event will be an update on all the work done thus far, A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT and what we have coming up to continue in the future.
