5 Injured, 1 Killed in Weekend Shooting Violence; 62 Shootings Since Boston Marathon

A burst of weekend violence raises the total number of shootings since the Boston Marathon to 62. A series of shooting incidents over the weekend left at least one victim dead and five more injured. This follows the news that the victim of the shooting at 70 Ames Street died from their injuries. On Saturday according to a BPD report, at 12:30 AM police found one male victim in his 20’s, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital to be treated for life threatening injuries and the case is being investigated by Homicide detectives. At 12:49 PM police responded to a call of a person shot at 88 Wellington Street in Mattapan. According to the BPD report, officers located a male victim believed to be in his 30’s suffering from gunshot wounds who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing two motor vehicles exchanging gunshots and the victim’s motor vehicle crashing into another parked vehicle. Officers are looking for a light green RAV type vehicle with partial Mass plate 875, in connection with the shooting.

At 11:15 PM one man was shot in the stomach in Hyde Park. According to a BPD report, he is in stable condition as well as a second victim who suffered minor injuries from broken glass. At 11:50 PM a man was “taken away in bad shape” from near Dorchster Ave. and Kimball St. suffering from multiple gun shot wounds according to Universal Hub. At 2:42 AM on Sunday, two victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds in Dorchsester, a male at 18 Speedwell St. and a female approximately a block away at 95 High St.
