Michael Meltsner of Northeastern University School of Law will give the keynote speech on excessive sentencing.
CJPC and the Norfolk Lifer’s Group recently released a report on the sentence of life without parole (LWOP) in Massachusetts and a recommendation to change it to include a mandatory parole review starting at 25 years. This report will be discussed as well as words from people serving the LWOP sentence.
Donald Perry of Project Operation Change will be honored with the Peg Erlanger Award for his commitment to criminal justice reform, especially parole reform, through community organizing.
The founders of CJPC will also be honored.
