MY TOP 6 FAVORITE BUSINESSES AT THE 2016 SMALL BUSINESS EXPO IN BOSTON

APRIL 08, 2016

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to attend the Small Business Expo in Boston, MA. There I got to see a plethora of businesses new and old, marketing for investments and community engagement. It was like an amusement park for entrepreneurs if you ask me. I was pretty much the youngest person there, but I made a huge impact it seems, representing the blogger community. I spoke with bankers, social media managers, app databases and much more. I even got interviewed by Bostons own Radio Entrepreneur right on site. It was so much fun, and I got to publicize some info about my blog and what it stands for, as well as what I do for work. It was an amazing experience all together, and I promised the businesses I would publish an article with my top 5-10…So here it goes!

1. EAGER

The only open platform of plugins which improve websites.

I stopped at this table almost last, and It completely blew my little blogger mind. I have been doing everything that my blog has on my own. I create the content, I design the web pages, I code the pages, I track the pages, I boost the pages, etc. Coming across a website like Eager is huge for me personally because it will make my life easier. Whenever I want to add something to my blog I have to find a code for it, this site allows you to download apps to your site, which in turn eliminates all of the coding and underlying reconfiguration of your blog.

Good stuff.

2. 360 WORLD VIEWER

Have you ever seen the documentary created by charity water? They are an organization that travels around Africa building wells so communities can have fresh water…

If you have not seen this documentary, I have embedded it below.

360 World Viewer makes videos like this for businesses who have a story to tell their customers. I always wondered who was behind the 360 view videos, and was 100% starstruck when I saw this business at the expo. If you have a business that is unique to a story I definitely suggest you reach out to Mike Sullivan. His passion for video is behind his entire business, and he is doing things that are rising on the business forefront.

3. NETWORK AFTER WORK

Whoever thought up the business plan for this company is genius. First of all, how many of us wish that we had the resources from our network to enhance our businesses? Exactly, every business mind would jump on an opportunity such as this. Network after work is a club of sorts, that hosts mixers for business minds all over the country. You can look them up online and see if there is anything hosted in your area. They typically do 2 mixers a month and travel the US as they go. I loved this because in a place like Boston, there are so many entrepreneurs who have never met, people who wonder if others are doing what they are doing. Mixers like these would be huge in Boston, especially for those in college like myself looking to get their brand off the ground.

4. ezCater

The simplest way to explain this app is to bring up apps like Favor, Door Dash, or Grub Hub. The difference is simple. The three I just stated serve food, they travel and deliver your favorite foods to you at a low delivery cost. ezCater is sort of the same, except that they find caterers, and staffing for an event for you. I think this is an amazing app, whether you are someone who plans events, or something like me who is a blogger. I can host a meet up and have food catered simply by choosing what I want from the ezCater app & telling them how many servers I need. Amazing.

5 & 6. SOCIAL FIX – BENCHMARK

This last set of businesses are for my bloggers. There are so many businesses and apps coming up surrounding making the lives of bloggers and internet entertainers. Social Fix and Benchmark alike, work to run and maximize your social media and followers. They make sure you have posts scheduled for more consistency, they manage your subscribers, and they manage all of your social media accounts in one place. For those of you who live this blogger life, you know it is the struggle at times. It may not be a bad idea finding a company to help you keep yourself organized. Imagine the free time…
