Duties & Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief Clinical Dietitian/Nutrition Services Manager, the Sports Dietitian has the responsibility and accountability of providing comprehensive, best practice Sports Nutrition counseling and education to students participating in inter-collegiate, intramural and club sports. The Sports Dietitian will also provide consultation and training to Harvard Department of Athletics staff; sports nutrition education and outreach to the Harvard Community; and participate in the HUHS Eating Disorders Team as appropriate. Assess, educate, and counsel student athletes on issues related to nutrition for performance – including pre-event, post-event, and injury recovery nutrition and hydration; best nutrition practices related to optimal body composition and body weight; and appropriate supplement use. Screen, counsel, and refer students with eating disorders/disordered eating as appropriate. Collaborate with HUHS Eating Disorder Team. Provide sports nutrition education and outreach for intramural and club sport participants. Perform other clinical nutrition duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition from an accredited college or university resulting in comprehensive knowledge of the science of nutrition and its relation to the human body. Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; Massachusetts dietitian/nutritionist license. Medicare provider. Compliance with AAAHC, DPH, HIPAA and FERPA standards. Minimum of three years established experience in sports nutrition counseling. Minimum of two years experience in medical nutrition therapy including eating disorder counseling. Demonstrated skills in assessment, counseling and education/training. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. Ability to work well with diverse populations and with both clinical and athletic staff. Knowledge of rules and regulations of athletic governing bodies regarding banned drugs and restricted substances. Knowledge of foods service quality and safety. Competence with electronic medical record.

Additional Qualifications
Masters degree in Nutrition or related field is preferred. Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred – or prepared to obtain within 1 year of hire. Experience with student athletes.

Additional Information
This is a 44-weeks per year seasonal position; working 20 hours per week.
