Salary: $12-$15 per hour (commensurate with education and experience)
Job Type: Part Time; 20 hrs/wk (opportunity for more hours during BPS school vacation weeks and summer months).
Hours: Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri: 3:00 pm -6:00 pm; Wed: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Weekly meeting on Tuesdays, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): The Castle Square Community Center is seeking an energetic, motivated, creative and caring Middle School Program Coordinator/Instructor to implement a new program for middle school students that focuses on job readiness skills and a STEM curriculum around multimedia projects. The program will be offered from Monday-Friday from 3-6 PM, with additional hours (1-6 PM) for Wednesday BPS half-days. The Coordinator/Instructor will be responsible for providing/supervising homework help and tutoring from 4-5 PM and coordinating/implementing age and developmentally appropriate enrichment activities from 5-6 PM for youth ages 12-14. Additional activities/field trips will be offered on Wednesdays from 1-4 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise a group of up to 13 youth between the ages of 12 and 14.

Maintain daily attendance and accurate sign out, run daily activities, give snack, track behavioral and homework issues, and supervise homework help and tutoring.
Create and implement age and developmentally appropriate activities
Coordinate with other CSTO staff on youth development issues and organization-wide projects and events
Plan and provide workshops, events, activities, and field trips that meet the needs and interests of students, and supervise and evaluate workshop facilitators
Build and maintain relationships with parents and schools of participating youth
Participate in scheduled trainings, workshops, staff and supervisory meetings
Communicate regularly with parents, teachers and other school personnel about students’ progress
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

A minimum of one year related work experience and demonstrated ability to work effectively with children in the field of youth development. 18+ years of age
Working towards a degree in Child Development, Youth Development, Human Services, Education, Physical Education, and Recreation preferred
Experience in a multicultural, community setting
Bilingual English/Chinese (preferred, not mandated)
CPR/First Aid certified (preferred)

An annual physical confirmed by a physician’s statement, including documentation of 2 MMR immunizations.

Energetic and outgoing personality, mediation, facilitation and listening skills
Strong Communication skills (verbal and written)
Computer Expertise (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) Massachusetts driver’s license a plus.
C.O.R.I and S.O.R.I. checks required.
