Tribute to Boston Jazz Giants

For ArtWeek Boston, the Jazz Heritage Trail kickoff concert is co-hosted by the Museum of African American History and JazzBoston. Singer Mae Arnette, composer and pianist Ran Blake, and drummer Roy Haynes are three of Boston’s living jazz legends. Join the Museum of African American History and JazzBoston as we honor them and launch the campaign to create a Boston Jazz Heritage Trail. Musicians paying tribute to the trio include Terri Lyn Carrington, Dominique Eade, Wannetta Jackson, Syd Smart, and Frank Wilkins. Story-telling by jazz radio host and historian Eric Jackson and leaders of the hosting organizations. This event will be held in the Museum’s historic African Meeting House, where concerts were performed in the 18th and 19th centuries. Speakers and performers will connect Boston’s social and cultural history with its unique jazz heritage and current jazz scene. Supporters of the campaign for a Jazz Heritage Trail will explain its importance and answer questions. Flyers with a map showing people and places proposed for the trail will be distributed.   Museum Of African-American History 46 Joy Street Boston, MA 02114
