Economic Justice Funding Circle (EJFC) seeks an experienced community organizer and campaign manager for the position of Boston Jobs Campaign Coordinator. The BJC Coordinator will play a critical role in advancing a citywide movement that builds accountability from government, private developers and contractors to ensure that construction and permanent jobs linked to development projects are accessible to Boston residents, people of color and women. BJC Coordinator is a half-time position (20 hours a week). The position may be combined with a part-time position to support an organizing initiative with the Boston Worker Alliance. The Boston Jobs Campaign will be a multi-year organizing campaign based on the following goals: Organize for our communities to secure job and contracting opportunities based on the objectives that 51% of total construction work hours be performed by Boston residents, 51% by people of color, and 15% by women. Organize to secure and monitor hiring agreements for permanent jobs linked to these projects. Strengthen agreements between communities of color and unions. Contribute to a citywide narrative focused on the rights of Boston residents, especially workers, immigrants, and people of color to remain in the City, share its wealth, and have a voice in decision-making. Establish working partnerships and a unified voice among communities of color. Civil Service now accepting applications for 2012 Firefighters exam

Civil Service is now accepting applications for the 2012 Firefighters exam. This examination consists of two components: the written examination and the Entry-Level Physical Abilities Test (ELPAT). Candidates must take and pass both components in order to be placed on the eligible list for appointment in a civil service city or town. 1. Written Examination Date: April 28, 2012 Written Examination Announcement Number: 5012 Application Deadline: March 19, 2012* Written Examination Fee: $100 Location: Various sites across the state *There is an additional $50 processing fee for applications received after this date. Applications for the written exam will not be accepted after April 2, 2012. 2. ELPAT Examination Dates: February 2012 – August 2012 ELPAT Announcement Number: 5013 Application Deadline: June 29, 2012 *ELPAT Fee: $100 Location: Hudson National Guard Armory *There is an additional $50 processing fee for applications received after this date. Applications for the ELPAT will not be accepted after July 31, 2012. Please note that there is only one site available for the ELPAT. This component of the exam must be completed by August 14, 2012. HELP WANTED: Blueprint Schools Network

HELP WANTED: Blueprint Schools Network Location: Boston, MA Blueprint Schools Network, Inc. (Blueprint) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping school districts close the achievement gap in their lowest-performing schools. Using a blueprint of comprehensive reform strategies, we partner with school districts to plan, implement, and monitor the progress of whole school turnaround with the goal of improving educational and life opportunities for students. Blueprint uses five core strategies for school reform that are based on work performed by leading researchers at Harvard University. The blueprint represents one of the first attempts to distill successful practices of high performing charter schools into a format that can be transferred to all schools in a turnaround setting. The five strategies include: • Investing in human capital • Increasing instructional time (longer school year and longer school day) • Fostering a no-excuses culture of high expectations • Building systems for data-driven instruction • Differentiating instruction through in-school “high-dose” tutoring We are currently working with 20 elementary, middle and high schools in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and ten K-12 feeder schools in the Denver Public School District. These 30 schools will serve more than 15,000 students in the 2011-12 academic year. Recruitment Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities: • Develop recruiting strategy for more than 400 math fellows, teachers, and principals for our partner districts. • Identify local and non-local channels of recruitment. Develop calendar of events. Attend and plan events. • Develop college outreach plan. Raise awareness via grassroots meetings, volunteer “ambassadors” at key colleges. • Oversee all Blueprint social media including Jumo, Facebook, and Linkedin pages. Regularly update website with important and salient pieces of information. • Coordinate with current fellows, teachers, and leaders. Develop weekly profiles of fellows to be featured on Blueprint website. • Develop regular updates for district leaders and Blueprint leadership on recruiting numbers. • Develop selection strategy. Work with Director of Operations to create a streamlined and centralized selection plan. Qualifications: • A Bachelor’s degree in political science, government, economics, sociology, education or similar fields preferred. • At least two (2) years working in human resources, event planning, consulting, logistics, or recruiting is a must. • Comfort using Microsoft Excel is a must. Fluency is preferred. • The ability to work with a team and multi-task. • The ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment with flexibility and a drive to work for an important cause. • The ability to communicate, teach, and present information to a variety of audiences including school and district leaders, other data teams, and Blueprint leadership. • Phenomenal organizational and planning skills. • A commitment to the Blueprint mission and firm belief that all children deserve the opportunity to succeed.
