Dean College has an immediate opening for an Advisor/Athletic Academic Monitoring Coordinator who works as a critical team member within a centralized advising center as part of Academic Support and Career Planning. The qualified candidate’s duties include working holistically to assist students to progress toward degree completion through advising, understanding academic policies, course selection, academic monitoring, transfer, assist in career planning and counseling students on academic probation. The qualified candidate will also develop a comprehensive athletic academic monitoring plan for all athletes and work closely with the athletic department to ensure academic and eligibility information in compliance with the NJCAA.
The advisor will serve as an advocate and liaison for the student to internal and external communities including Academic Affairs, faculty, Institutional Advancement, Student Administrative Services, Student Development and Retention, and families. The advisor will be responsible for assisting with Advising and Career Planning programming including registration, orientation, workshops and maintaining websites.
Qualifications: A Master’s Degree required with experience in collegiate advising and counseling student athletes. Preferred familiarity with a spectrum of learning styles; experience working with diverse populations; experience working collaboratively with groups; excellent written and oral communication skills; and computer skills used in educational institutions such as Datatel and Microsoft Office Systems.
