The 1st Black President of the Boston City Council, Bruce Bolling, died Tuesday 9/11/12 from prostate cancer at 67 years of age. Bolling served on Boston City Council for 12 years and ran for Mayor of Boston in 1993.

WAKE: Tuesday September 18th, 4pm to 8 pm at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Mattapan.
PUBLIC VIEWING: Wednesday September 19th, 10 am at the Morning Star Baptist Church followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

BOLLING, Bruce Carlton, Sr. Of Roxbury, September 11, 2012. Former Boston City Council President. Beloved husband of Joyce Ferriabough of Roxbury. Loving father of Tanya Tucker of Washington, DC, Leslie Tucker Gant of Boston and Bruce C. Bolling, Jr. of Roxbury. Grandfather of Robert Gant of Boston. Dear brother of Royal Bolling Jr., Blair and AwRa Bolling, Yom (Richard) Bolling, Carolyn Bolling-Hayes, Deborah Bolling, Charlene Bolling-Holloway, Andrea and Lorraine Bolling and the late Diane and Rhonda Bolling. He leaves other relatives and a host of colleagues and friends. Funeral service Wednesday at 11 AM at Morning Star Baptist Church, 1257 Blue Hill Ave., Mattapan.
