5 Shooting Incidents in Roxbury in Less than an Hour; 89 Shootings since Boston Marathon

One shooting on the 17th or 18th and a series of 6 shooting incidents early this morning left 4 people injured, one serious enough that the homicide unit was brought into investigate. According to the BPD’s Boston 24 crime data, there was one non-fatal shooting sometime between 10am Wednesday 7/17 and 10am Thursday 7/18. We have not been able to get more details as to the condition of the victim nor the exact time and location of the shooting.

A mid-day shootout between the occupants of two cars on Friday July 19th at 12:30pm at the interstection of Cheny and Hartwell St. left no one hit but a resident reported a bullet came through his apartment. Police are looking for a black and a red vehicle involved in the incident.

Two people were shot in roxbury at approximately 1:30 am on July 20th on Harisoff St. Both were sent to the hospital and according to Universal Hub “The homicide unit was called in, as is done whenever a victim has potentially life-ending injuries.”

Police are looking for a gray Honda with at least two black men inside; who apparently got out of the car and began firing, then jumped back in and drove away.

At approximately the same time of 1:30 am there were shots fired at two other locations in Roxbury, one near Adams St. sent a bullet into bullet into an apartment next door and one at Cedar and Highland where police found evidence of at least four shots fired. Apparently no one was hit in either incident.

About 10 minutes later a man was shot near the Timilty Middle School in Roxbury. He transported himself to Boston Medical Center and was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

About 30 minutes after that “somebody fired about eight shots into Adams Street near Orchard Park from a gray Accord” according to Universal Hub.

An officer in a cruiser began chasing the car as it zig-zagged down Blue Hill Avenue and side streets in Roxbury and Dorchester. The occupants eventually ditched the car near Half Moon Street in Dorchester, where one was quickly collared when he tried to run away – and the second not long after that.

This brings the total number of shootings (where people were hit, fatal and non-fatal) to at least 89 since the Boston Marathon.

According to Boston Police Crime stats, non-fatal shootings since the beginning of 2013 are up 11% over last year and homicides with a firearm are up 83%.
