Led by a collaborative of community residents, organizations, and government leaders committed to transformation and healing, the City of Boston has joined a national movement to ensure that policies and practices that impact the lives of residents are just and equitable.

Join us for a two-day summit, May 16th and 17th at Northeastern University to partner with Mayor Martin J. Walsh to advance racial equity in the City of Boston and to launch an inclusive cross sector regional network to advance racial equity and ensure opportunities for all. The detailed agenda will be available on-line. We hope government and community partners from across Boston and the Northeast region will join us to share local and national racial equity best practices and policies addressing structural racism and develop policies and alternative structures that challenge unfair systems.

In an effort to promote sustainability and inter-generational equity, we have decided to minimize paper waste in the form of copies and handouts, as well as food and plastic bottle waste. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle, fillable at water stations in the student center, and if you would like a hard copy of the agenda, to print one out ahead of time. We will offer a scannable QR code linking to the agenda and room assignments so you have access at your fingertips. While lunch is on your own, allowing us to keep registration price low, breakfast and afternoon snacks will be catered by the Haley House Bakery Cafe, a model of social enterprise, promoting the physical, economic and social well-being of the community. In addition to delicious food, Haley House provides on-the-job training for those seeking to become financially independent and introduce young people to the power of cooking from scratch and making other healthy lifestyle decisions.

There are full scholarships available for the 2016 Boston Summit on Race and Equity. There are a limited number and we rely on your individual honesty and accountability to select this option if you otherwise could not attend. This policy of personal integrity worked very well for previous events, and we are confident that we will be able to both raise money to cover the costs of hosting this summit, and also not create a barrier to broad participation.

To that end, please inquire with your employer or membership organization about whether registration can be paid for by your employer as a professional development opportunity, as these two days will focus on sharing best practices, building networks, and strategizing for the coming year. (No CEUs will be offered.)
