Boston Mayor’s Race: And then there were 16
The first thinning of the herd running for the Mayor of Boston took place yesterday May 21st at 5pm as the deadline for turning in signatures passed. Out of the original 24 candidates for Mayor of Boston only 16 turned in the required minimum of 3,000 signatures to continue in the race. The herd will be thinned again when the signatures are “verified” removing duplicates and checking voter status, leaving only valid signatures and valid candidates.
Here is a graphic of all 24 original contenders indicating who got eliminated.
Here is a graphic of who is left in the Mayor’s race…. The Sweet 16
Here is a graphic which shows the candidates of color versus their all-white, all-male opponents.
Interestingly enough for a race now whittled down to 16 having 8 candidates of color is right down the middle.
