Companies hoping to sell marijuana for medical use in Massachusetts will be required to hire an independent lab to test their products for contaminants, such as heavy metals and pesticides, under final rules regulators are slated to vote on Wednesday morning.

The Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Initiative, also known as Question 3, will appear on the November 6, 2012 ballot in the state of Massachusetts as an indirect initiated state statute. The measure would legalize the use of medical marijuana in the state.
