Diversity in the Boston Globe

When discussing issues of diversity in this city, the Globe has often taken the position as the voice of reason finding a moral high ground to often expose some of the most heinous examples of discrimination and glaring racial disparities in our state. As we were focusing on diversity we began to notice that the Globe seemed to have some of the same problems we observed in other Boston institutions.

THERE IS A RENAISSANCE happening in Boston. Take a look at the activity in the Seaport District — restaurants, cultural events, start-ups and new visitors. Roslindale Square has become a bustling village with new restaurants and shops opening seemingly every day. In my own neighborhood of Dorchester, Tavolo Restaurant and Ashmont Grill have become community anchors for residents and travelers arriving by train, bus, and car. But what about Roxbury or Mattapan?

Boston Police Awards 3 Officers involved in High-Profile Brutality cases infused with race

The Boston Police department in its latest routine round of awarding officers for “outstanding performance” of their duties during the past year has named among its many recipients 3 officers in particular who were involved in some of the departments most highly publicized and controversial cases, all of which include elements of race and police brutality and use of excessive and/or deadly force.

Focus on Diversity: City of Boston = F

Mayor Menino has long touted his commitment to diversity in the City of Boston. Recently, when criticized by organizations such as MAMLEO and others, including the Blackstonian, the Mayor said the City of Boston is diverse and he challenged anyone to prove him wrong.
The Blackstonian accepted that challenge.
Here is the proof that Mayor Menino is wrong and that the City of Boston is not diverse in its governance.
